Things to do in Torre del Mar
Rent a sun lounger and top up your tan on the beach. Wave over a waiter to order cocktails, snacks and even massages on demand. Enjoy dinner at “chiringuito” restaurants fronted by coal-fired BBQs. Order ocean-fresh seafood and watch it being cooked in front of your eyes. After dark, the beach clubs host open-air dance parties and DJ sets.
Mix up your swimming and sunbathing routine with water sports like kayaking and paddleboarding. You’ll also see locals playing padel, one of the most popular sports in Spain. Book one of the beachfront courts to try it for yourself.
Paseo Maritimo, the town’s breezy promenade, stretches along the beachfront. Parks, playgrounds and bubbling fountains add to the picturesque atmosphere. Enjoy free live music and shop for souvenirs at the arts and craft market. If you’re feeling energetic, you can join public Zumba classes and Flamenco workshops held on the promenade.
Rent a bike and cycle to the neighbouring port village of Caleta de Velez. It’s a four-kilometre, mostly flat ride from Torre del Mar. Enjoy lunch at a seafood tavern and cool off in the bay before heading back to Torre del Mar.
Make a splash at Aquavelis, a family-friendly water park open throughout the summer. Cool off in the wave pool and race down the colourful slides. The shallow splash pools are ideal for younger kids.
